NURSERY RHYME BY D.P

The Barquito

Where are you bound, little sailor so fine?
Wherever the wind will car-ry.
And when do you leave, O mariner mine?
Tonight, when the tide is high.
And what if the Barbary pirates are nigh?
Why, I’ll blast ‘em to Tipperar-ree
Do you think you’ll return by suppertime?
Perhaps, if there’s apple pie.
--D.P. 2008

( Traducción por House of Writers / Casa de Escritores by Maria Victoria)

La Carta / The Letter by Laura Gonzalez with translation by Wendy Call

La Carta

En la carta te mandé
Palabras de consuelo
Unos cuantos suspiros,
Una pequeña historia
Para entretenerte
La fecha para que sepas
Cuanto tiempo viajó este
Papel hasta llegar a tus manos.
Te envié muchos saludos
Que iban muy cariñosos
Al principio y al final
Con mi nombre por si
Se te ha olvidado.
Con todos los puntos,
Las comas y los acentos
Ortográficos, así como
Alguno que otro signo
De interrogación para
Hacer la comunicación
Mas íntima y más fluida.
¿Notaste mi preocupación?
Tal vez no la notaste
Porque la vestí de alegría.

The Letter

In the letter I sent you
Words of consolation
A few sighing breaths,
A little story
To entertain you
The date so that you know
How long this paper
Traveled before reaching your hands.
I sent you warm greetings
With much affection
In opening and in closing
My name just in case
You have forgotten it
With all the periods
The commas and grammatical
Marks, as well as
A question mark
Or two
To make communication
More intimate and smooth.
Did you notice my concern?
Maybe you didn’t notice
Since I dressed it in cheer.
